November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo, as everyone likes to call it). It’s a month where authors, and people dreaming of becoming authors, join together in a pledge to write as much as they can in a 30-day caffeine-laden sprint and hopefully finish that novel they’ve been dreaming of.
Needless to say, there’s a lot of great writing energy out there in the ozone. And resources galore to inspire creativity and productivity for writing. Here’s my take on NaNoWriMo – FORGET NOVELS, let’s write anything we want!
- If you’ve been dreaming of creating a webinar – do it!
- If it’s time to create a new free guide for your website that entices people to sign up for your website – go for it!
- Or how about other writing projects like cookbooks, fun worksheets to go with your signature speech, blog articles and newsletter copy to last you through the New Year, or even something fun like your own unique spin on a tarot deck?
Whatever you want to write, set your intention and let’s get to work.
I’m sending this out to you on November 7, so we’re already a week into the magical month of NaNoWriMo. It doesn’t matter! Just get started by deciding – TODAY – what you are going to work on. Got it? Great! Now open a blank document, give it a name, and write down your thoughts about the project, outlining what will be in it, and anything else you can download right away.
Next, set aside a block of time every weekday to work on your project. At this point, don’t try to be perfect in your writing, just let your words stream out of you and give them life. The goal is to produce lots of content you can work with, then go back later to edit and refine it.
I’ve got lots of great writing productivity tips in my new free guide called “Get In the Zone.” To request a copy, just sign up on my home page, or click HERE. And as always, if you’ve got an idea for a project, but need a little help getting started, send me your questions. I’m here for you!
